Description
The Oulu Music Centre, located in the Karjasilla district, is an important cultural institution in Finland. The centre offers a variety of cultural events for all ages, including more than 60 entertainment concerts annually featuring domestic and international performers. It also hosts ballet performances, theatre musicals, stand-up comedy shows, and international and local conferences.
Since the beginning of 2023, the Music Centre has expanded its capacity with the renovated Pohjankartano Hall becoming part of the complex. This allows for events of various sizes and natures to be held, including rehearsals and concerts by the Oulu Symphony Orchestra, the northernmost full-length symphony orchestra in the country.
The centre is also home to Finland’s only conservatory of music, providing professional training in church, classical and rhythmic music. The Pohjankartano Multifunctional Hall also serves as a base for Madetoja Music High School, Pohjankartano High School and Oulu College.
